it's 5 o'clock somewhere margarita cupcakes.

i wanted to make cupcakes for my friends birthday, but i wanted to do something different than the usual "birthday" cake/cupcakes.. she is a fan of tequila lol.. and margaritas, so i came up with the idea for margarita cupcakes!

i used a white cake mix, lime zest, lime juice and sweetened lime juice.. along with adding some jose cuervo tequila, i tinted the cupcakes green. after they baked and cooled, i dipped the tops in more tequila and piped them with a homemade buttercream frosting.. also with lime juice, lime zest and you guessed it, more tequila! haha. i think they were pretty drunk at this point. ;) i sprinkled some sugar crystals around the sides to look like the salt around the glass and garnished it with a gummi lime wedge. to add something more, i cut the bendy straws and inserted them into the cake!
